In 2009, two brothers, Alexandre and Maxime Mussard, and their best friend Louis-Felix De Fenoyl had a simple idea: to combine fashion and fair trade with a clear base line of ‘Be Cool, Be Good’. They brought to Europe the concept of One For One: where in buying a pair of trainers (made in Europe), you know that another pair will be manufactured locally and then given, in association with local charities, to disadvantaged children in either Brazil, Mozambique, India or Colombia. In the medium term, Twins for Peace intends to create and support, through the marketing of clothing and accessories, schools and hospitals in countries where they are already working.
Participating countries: Brazil, Mozambique, India and Colombia
10,000 pairs of shoes have been distributed since the creation of Twins for Peace through the ‘Shoe Project’.
A little extra information: a small red label on the trainer’s laces shows that it is a fair-trade product.
Questions for Maxime Mussard, one of the founders of Twins for Peace:
Three verbs that describe your brand:
Cool, good, and timeless
What does your brand bring from a social point of view?
In the countries that we support, we simply bring happiness, giving a smile to every child who receives a pair of our gifted shoes. Our business also makes a significant contribution to health projects. Our third project focuses on education, because it is through education that children can later be free to choose their paths in life.
In the countries where we sell our shoes, our philosophy highlights the beautiful concept of sharing, and the good feelings that come from helping others.
The latest achievement of which you are proud?
Our collaboration with the Mr.Men and Little Misses, which is coming out in March. The Mr.Men and Little Miss books were a part of our childhoods and we are very proud to present this collaboration. It’s my brother Alexandre who has designed this range of trainers and cap.
